Hi all,

I’m evaluating cMT2108X2(V2) for a project and I need to confirm whether this specific model can read/write to an SQL database from the HMI.

System details:

  • PLC: Omron NX series (NX/NJ platform)

  • Network: Ethernet available between PLC/HMI/IT network

  1. Does this model support direct SQL Client functions (SELECT/INSERT/UPDATE) from the HMI?

  • If yes: is it via Easybuilder pro ? Mine seems greyed out

    If this model does NOT support SQL directly, what do you recommend as the simplest/most robust option?

  • Another Weintek model/series that supports SQL client

  • A small gateway/module approach (example: Red Lion, etc.)

  • A PC-based HMI (e.g., Omron NY IPC / SCADA) acting as the database client

  • I am looking for solution with the simplest programming on both plc side and IT side
    Right now we are using plc to write and read data and its a really hard mess sometimes

Thank you for your question. The cMT2108X2(V2) does not support the SQL Query or Database Server features in EasyBuilder Pro.

Models such as the cMT3072XH/XP, cMT3092X series, cMT3152X, and cMT3162X do support reading/writing to a SQL database, and include support for SQL client functions such as SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and other user-defined SQL commands.

The closest model to the cMT2108X2(V2) that supports SQL functionality would likely be the cMT3102X(V2).
