I designed my HMI prior to receiving the SVR-100 unit. I had the PLC connected to EBP and there were no device connectivity issues with the PLC when running simulations. I received the SVR-100 unit a few days and got it hooked up, at first it worked fine. I downloaded the project to the HMI and it connected to the PLC with no issues but for the last 24 hours I have been having issues with it connecting or maintaining a connection.

IP addresses as follows:
ClickPLC: 192.168.254.192
Development Computer: 192.168.254.11
SVR-100 Port 1: 192.168.254.175 (Static)
SVR-100 Port 2: Not used

Wiring is as follows:
SVR-100: direct connection to router
Router: direct connection to switch
ClickPLC: direct connection to switch
Development Computer: direct connection to switch

Need assistance ASAP if possible, thanks!

Hi Mike,

Can you please advise the subnet mask of the HMI and PLC as well? Also, if you connect the cMT-SVR-100 directly to the PLC using LAN 1 and monitor the SVR using LAN-2, will the HMI be able to communicate with the PLC?

Thanks for the quick response!

Subnet masks as follows:
SVR100: 255.255.255.0
ClickPLC: 255.255.255.0

If I connect the PLC directly to port 1 on the HMI and monitor through port 2 I can’t find the HMI or the PLC on the network regardless of the IP address I set for port 2.

Can you confirm that the IP of the PLC is “191.168.254.192”? If the PLC is on the 191.168.254 subnet it will not be able to communicate with the HMI on the 192.168.254 subnet.

I recommend you give this a try.

IP addresses as follows:
ClickPLC: 192.168.254.192 (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
Development Computer: 192.168.254.11 (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
SVR-100 Port 1: 192.168.254.175 (Static) (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
SVR-100 Port 2: Not used. The IP address must be a different subnet such as 192.168.100.1

Wiring is as follows:
SVR-100: direct connection to switch (Please connect CMT-SVR port 1 to the switch)
ClickPLC: direct connection to switch
Development Computer: direct connection to switch

I mistyped when I originally wrote 191, everything is on the same 192.168.254.xyz

I tried Tim’s IP address settings and wiring and it still wouldn’t connect.

Per Brendon’s suggestion (for testing purposes), if you connect the cMT-SVR-100 directly to the Click PLC using port 1 and monitor the SVR using port 2,

IP addresses as follows:
ClickPLC: 192.168.254.192 (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
SVR-100 Port 1: 192.168.254.175 (Static) (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gatway IP 0.0.0.0 DNS 0.0.0.0)
SVR-100 Port 2: 192.168.100.1 (Static) (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0)(The IP address must be a different subnet from port 1.)
Development Computer: 192.168.100.2 (Static) (Subnet mask 255.255.255.0)

Wiring is as follows:
ClickPLC: direct connection to CMT-SVR port 1
Development Computer: direct connection to CMT-SVR port 2

Adding on to @TimWusa’s post, can you please attempt the following and advise if the HMI can communicate with the PLC:

  1. Open the HMI’s webserver and identify the IP address of LAN-2. As @TimWusa stated, this IP must be on a different subnet than LAN-1:
  2. Change the PC’s IP so that it can communicate with the HMI’s LAN-2 port. Confirm that cMT-Viewer can display the HMI project when the PC is connected to the HMI’s LAN-2 port.
  3. Connect the HMI’s LAN-1 port to the PLC:

  4. Connect the PC to the HMI’s LAN-2 port:

  5. Open cMT viewer and check if communication is present.
