Introduction:

In this post, we describe how to fix the “building font file failed” compilation error. This error may occur when using font types, such as Bahnschrift, which are not supported on the HMI’s OS.

Software Version:

EasyBuilder Pro 6.03.02.463+

Instructions:

  1. When compilation fails due to an unsupported font file, we recommend that users attempt to copy the font file into the EBpro\windows_font\ folder first. To do this, open C:\WINDOWS\ Fonts and copy the desired file into the aforementioned folder:

  2. When finished, restart EasyBuilder Pro and re-attempt compilation. If compilation continues to fail, please move on to the next step:

  3. When compilation fails after adding the font file to the EBpro\windows_font\ folder we recommend replacing the font using the “Font Management” menu. This menu can be accessed by clicking “Language & Font” within the “Project” tab or by clicking “Font Management” in the compile dialog:

  4. Within the “Language” tab of this menu, switch the unsupported font with a different font style:

  5. If need be, change the “Default Font” if it references the unsupported font:

  6. In addition, replace any instances of the unsupported font, using the “Replace” button within the “Font Management” tab:

  7. Re-compile your project when finished, to verify that the error is resolved.
