We’re working on minimizing the amount our users need to actually touch the HMI, as it is in a fairly rough environment. Is there a way to use navigation keys from a USB keypad to navigate the HMI menus, and if so, how would we configure that?
Thanks in advance.
Hi @dimmed1102,
In this case we would recommend using a USB mouse since some functions cannot be accomplished by a USB keyboard alone.
Hey Brendon,
Unfortunately the same conditions leading us to avoid the user touching the screen also prevent us using a mouse. The environment is fairly harsh chemically. I was hoping we’d be able to use the arrow key inputs to navigate the screen, similar to a desktop system. Would that be a possibility?
@dimmed1102,
The HMI, like your PC, has a pointer and pointer location. You can view the cursor by disabling “Hide mouse cursor” within the “System” tab of “System Parameters”. I don’t know if they have a USB based device that allows you to move the mouse cursor using arrow keys.
It may be possible to use an industrial joystick-type USB mouse as an alternative, but I don’t have a specific product to recommend in this case.
