  • following document OMRON EtherNet/IP (NJ/NX Series) to connect the driver. the setup was working on an older controller. now using nx102 v1.64 that has security enabled. the document recommended turning plc dip switches 1 and 2 on. did that. no success. please advise.

The functions of the dip switches may vary based on the PLC part numbers. We don’t have accurate information. You can reach out to Omron to ask how to disable security communication using the dip switches.

There is a technical post on this Omron website that guides on how to set up user authentication on NJ and NX PLCs. You probably have to reverse those settings mentioned in the post to get any 3rd party HMI’s connected to a NX/NJ PLC.

You might miss this note in the NX102 Hardware user manual:
“This function operates when the power supply to the CPU Unit is turned ON after you change the DIP switch settings. If you want to use this function, turn ON power to the CPU Unit after you change the DIP switch settings.”

this worked. i confirmed with our omron rep that the dip switches are the same between nx product lines. i just had to power down, set the dip switches, then power back up. note, port 80 does not work. 44818 is the correct port.
