"Dear Support Team,

I am writing to seek assistance regarding a communication failure between an Omron CP2E PLC and a Weintek cMT2078X HMI. Although I have followed all the steps outlined in the manual, the connection remains unsuccessful.

I would also like to ask a specific question: Does not importing tags into the HMI project affect the initial connection or cause a communication error? Currently, I have not imported any tags and am attempting to establish the connection first.

Device Details:

  • PLC: Omron CP2E

  • HMI: Weintek cMT2078X

  • Connection Type: RS-232

Could you please verify if the tag import is mandatory for the communication to start, or if there are other hidden settings I should check?

Hi @Jarn-James ,

Thank you for your question. Not importing tags will not prevent the initial communication between the PLC and the HMI. Tag import is not mandatory as this driver supports both register and tag-based addressing.

By adding the OMRON CJ/CS/CP driver to your EasyBuilder Pro project, you should be able to access device registers without importing tags.

If serial communication is still not being established, we recommend confirming that the pinout of the RS-232 cable used to connect the devices is correct, as this is a common cause of communication issues.
