What is the best driver to use if I need to read and write raw ASCII data to RS-232 or 2-wire RS-485? I have some (obscure) hardware that I need to read and write an ASCII string to in order to update the display. I see ASCII Server, Free Protocol, and Serial Slave. Which do I want?

Given this application, I would recommend that you use our “Free Protocol Driver” as it was developed for this purpose. Here is a link to a tutorial in which we demonstrate how to use this driver: Link
