Introduction:
When attempting to download/upload a project file to an HMI, you may be tempted to connect your PC to the HMI via a USB cable. DON’T DO IT! The cMT X series HMI is only equipped with a USB host port, meaning the HMI can only communicate with USB peripherals like mice, keyboards, and thumb drives. Not only will connecting the HMI to your PC via USB cable not work, but it also has the potential to cause a ground loop.

Note: the “File System” that our HMIs support is FAT32. However, both FAT and FAT32 will allow the HMI to read and write data to/from the USB drive. NTFS may appear to work because a USB Popup will display but the HMI cannot read or write to the device. EXFAT will not display a USB Pop-up or allow the HMI to read or write to the device.
